Following the three successful editions of Compound Challenge, Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany is launching the 4th Compound Challenge. A competition to identify the best submitted synthetic route for a given small molecule as determined by:

number of synthesis steps,
obtained yield,
achieved purity

How Does It Work?

Anyone as an individual or in a team may register by April 30th, 2022.
Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany will then provide the structure of a small molecule to all registered participants. Participants will then supply a proposed synthetic route to this small molecule within 96 hours.
The obtained synthetic routes will be anonymized and evaluated by all participants in a randomized manner. The top 10 evaluated synthetic routes, as determined by the participants, will be tested by a CRO in a wet lab synthesis. A winner will then be selected and receive a EUR 10,000 prize.
Anyone from around the world may register for the competition.

What is ipOcean Certificate?
Each interaction with data on ipOcean is electronically signed by the identity of the user and stored in an immutable environment along with the timestamp and fingerprint of the file. In the ipOcean certificates you will find the secured records about all transactions with the selected file. These records are evidence that certain data existed in exact moment in time or it was shared, accessed and signed. The ipOcean certificates are admissible at EU courts and can protect you in case of disputes.
